Stories brought me back to medicine. As doctors and mothers, we are in the business of stories. Stories connect us and tell us we belong. I hope you find some piece of yourself reflected in this community.

I’ve told you before how much I hate public speaking. I still get a sense of dread when I have to give a talk.

And even more than public speaking, I hate promoting myself.

And still, every day I search for opportunities to speak in public and promote the work I do as a coach.

Why?

Because I am trying to overcome the mindset that is holding me back from my own “difficult-yes.”

Yes. My IT skills are rudimentary.

Yes. My social media presence is sporadic. And probably too full of text.

Yes. I am still sweating under my collar when I speak in public.

Yes. I still wonder what hashtag to use.

BUT…wow, the connection is unreal when I meet someone who understands what I’m doing!

And when I see the person in front of me light up with their own realization that moving out of burnout is a process that can be learned…it’s magical. It’s what I’m here to do. It’s my purpose.

If I am too afraid to fail, if I’m too obsessed with thoughts of “what will others think?”, if I’m too afraid of veering from the known routine, then I will not have those magical moments.

The secret to the “difficult-yes” is vulnerability.

Question: “where is your mindset holding you in a pattern of fear?”
