Hmmmmm…..
My kids will tell you “Mom will never get rid of her coffee.”
And…they’re sort of right.
What goes better with a great book than a steaming fresh cup of coffee? Add cozy socks and a fresh snowfall and a house all to myself–well, I’m in a dream world right now because I can’t think of a more perfect life scenario than that!

But hmmmm…
Is coffee my crutch?
Even though I have at most one coffee per day and always before noon, I wondered if caffeine was affecting my sleep. I’ve started to go to sleep around 9 pm and didn’t want to ruin a good pattern.
So I gave myself the chance to experience a few days without coffee/tea/forms of caffeine, just to take a looksie.
This is what I discovered:
I didn’t experience any withdrawal headaches.
I didn’t feel tired in the morning.
I didn’t notice any changes in my ability to focus.
I didn’t wake up in the middle of the night…in fact, I woke up in the same catatonic position with nary a ruffle in the duvet–proof that I did not kick my blanket off or shift positions for 8 hours straight.
But I did feel bereft. Like a piece of my happiness was taken away from me!
Overall, it was fun to try a caffeine holiday. I discovered that peppermint and herbal teas can also be quite nice. Best of all, it felt great to realize that the choice was MINE.
Question: “can you try a caffeine holiday and see how that affects your mood?”
