The only difference between the “you-with-the-crappy-life and the “you-with-the-great-life” is this: the great-life-YOU is willing to act imperfectly.

Every day.

Each day.

Even if it feels like today is not the right day.

Seriously. That’s the main difference between those who carpe diem and those who stay stuck.

Can you get curious when you notice you’re trying to talk yourself out of something?

Maybe it’s a new leadership role?

Maybe it’s letting go of a task you no longer want to own?

Maybe it’s asking for help at home?

As I mentioned last week, objections are often rooted in fear or a need for clarity. Objections then become a waving flag–a signpost that should say “wait a momentwhat’s going on here??

You don’t have to be a Stoic emperor to understand that “the impediment to action advances action…what stands in the way becomes the way” (Marcus Aurelius). You can unpack that quotation in many ways. I think of it this way: where you are most afraid to look is the direction you need to follow the most.

Stop turning away from the challenge. Face it.

Fail.

Fall.

Get up and try again.

Learn something about yourself.

Grow.

Grow and learn from the “impediment to action.”

And then the growth will lead the way to more positive changes.

As this year comes to an end, where will you look to find your own way?

Question: “how can you have a bias for action-taking in your own personal growth?”
