I know what you’re thinking–ONE GOAL?!

As a mother and a doctor (aka a professional-rapid-sequential-task-finisher), this might seem strange. This might seem as if it goes against your very being.

But hear me out.

Have you ever really accomplished more than one thing WELL in any given day?

Maybe your peak hours were spent at work.

Maybe it was dedicated to writing a paper.

Or teaching.

Or you were present and connected with your family members.

The tasks leading up to the ONE THING, and the tasks after that, just sort of fell around that one big thing.

The discipline comes with choosing one area of focus, rather than going really fast in several directions. You divide your energy (not just your time) in all of those directions. As a result, it’s hard to get momentum in any one area.

Discipline builds habits aligned with where you place your attention.

When you can filter out distractions (some of which may also feel just as important, but just not the priority of the day), you get focus.

I’m not saying anything radical.

You get more headway if you focus on one goal. Seems straightforward, yet why don’t more people do that?

“If you chase two rabbits, you will get neither one.”

What will be your focus for this year?

What ONE area will move your life forward in the direction you want to grow?

In other words, what game will you play this year?

Will it be improving the quality of your sleep?

Will it be practicing patience as a parent?

Will it be getting your financial house in order?

Will it be improving the quality of your relationship with a loved one?

I guarantee that if you focus on one thing, you will love the results.

Question: “What ONE goal will draw your attention as we start to close the year?”
