Author Brianna Wiest wrote, “there are four natural sanctuaries: silence, solitude, stillness, and simplicity.”

The last part, simplicity, has been instrumental in my burnout recovery. In fact, simplicity has been the word of my year for the past 5 years.

A simple life = a life built on priorities. YOUR priorities.

Essential for simplicity is the willingness to say no.

Let’s start off with the “easy-no”.

The “easy-no” is something in your life that is easy for you to say “no” to doing.

Things in the “easy-no” category may need to get done regularly to keep your life humming, but they don’t necessarily need your input. They don’t necessarily need to be done by you.

It might be a task that you dislike or that you prefer to delegate.

If the task is done imperfectly or done by someone else, it doesn’t affect your sense of self-worth…

What might you include in this category?

Email?

Laundry?

Cleaning the house?

Mowing the lawn?

Killing insects in the house?

Showing up to work parties?

Whatever you put on this list is unique to you.

Make your list and next week we will discuss the approach to the “easy-no.”

Question: “What one thing can you take off of your “easy-no” list this week?
