“I’m so burnt out. I’m failing my patients!”
“I want work life balance, but how?”
“Will my kids resent my career?”
Do you have these thoughts? If so, how many days (or years…or decades) have gone by since you first felt this way? And what has changed since then?
If you’re in a better space now, congratulations! It’s really hard to change the trajectory of your life.
But if you’re reading this, maybe you’re not in a better space.
Maybe it’s the same space. Or maybe you’re feeling stuck.
Because it’s not like people don’t know you suffer, right? You’ve probably read countless op eds and articles with some version of “DOCTORS ARE DROWNING, THE SYSTEM NEEDS TO CHANGE!” in the headlines. (But the proposed systems level changes are very vague…because who is going to fix it? When? And with what money?).
I know you don’t want to hear this. But no one is going to fix this.
Except us. We need to step forward first.
When do we start fixing this? NOW. We can’t be assured we can make changes next year or a decade from now. *Tomorrow is not guaranteed.
We are going to fix this. One person, one action, one change at a time.
You have no control over something or someone ELSE changing. You only have control over your decisions. Are you in or are you out?
No one else is going to change the culture of medicine for you.
No one else is going to take action and help mother-doctors have the healthy family and thriving career of their dreams.
Only you can make that choice.
